The ATC consortium has been contracted by the OeEB to implement the MFI Upgrading and Rating Initiative in East Africa.
The consortium is led by ATC Consultants (Vienna, Austria), and composed of four international partners that highly complementary each other. ATC Consultants implements the project in close cooperation with Capmex, the consulting branch of the Wiener Börse (Vienna, Austria), K-Rep Advisory Services Ltd. (Nairobi, Kenya) and MicroFinanza Rating (Milan, Italy).
ATC Consultants (ATC) is a leading Austrian consultancy specialized in international project management in various fields of development cooperation. For more than 25 years, ATC has been successfully implementing over 600 complex international short-term and long-term projects in more than 50 countries in the five continents. As the consortium leader of the MFI Upgrading and Rating Initiative in East Africa, ATC is responsible for the overall management of the project.
Wiener Börse AG (WBAG) is the Vienna Stock Exchange, a commercial entity owned by major banks and industrial groups. Together with its outsourced project management unit CAPMEX, WBAG provide a wide range of advisory services in the financial sector with the target to increase the access to finance, including through microfinance. WBAG brings to the consortium its international expertise in the fields of financial services and microfinance support.
K-REP Advisory Services Limited (KAS) ist the consulting and capacity building arm of K-REP, a leading group in the microfinance and micro enterprise sectors in Africa. Based in Nairobi (Kenya), KAS specializes in the provision of capacity building services and technical support to players in the microfinance sector in East Africa, with the aim of catalyzing their growth and development and building sustainable financial institutions for low-income people. KAS brings to the project its excellent knowledge of microfinance markets in the region.
Microfinanza Rating is a private, independent and internationally recognized rating agency specializing in microfinance. A market leader in specialized ratings, the company has performed over 250 microfinance ratings in 42 countries. Microfinanza Rating is active in 13 African countries and abroad, and can rely on five offices worldwide, including an office in Nairobi. Microfinanza Rating will carry out institutional diagnostics and ratings of some MFIs participating in the project.
